Is there a standard size for pallet racking?
The short answer is yes and no. The long answer; Pallet Racking sizes are dependent on the type of pallet that you use, these vary between standard pallets at 100o x 1200mm, Euro pallets at 800 x 1200mm and standard 1200 x 1200mm pallets, racking depths are also based on the amount of overhang your pallets requires. As a result there are pallet racking sizes to accomadate these pallets with depths of 800, 1000 and 1200mm with a standard beam length of between 1350mm and 2700mm for between one and three pallets and designed for a specific load.
How do I know which racking system is right for me?
Using our guide of racking types you may be able to judge which system is right for your requirements. However our guide is simply that, what appears to be the best system on paper may not be the best in practicality terms. Please contact us for further guidance.
Are racking systems interchangeable?
No, many racking system parts can be replaced with like for like if damaged but it can be very difficult to connect one system to another due to the limits placed on each type of racking system such as load capacity and beam connections. It is possible to utilise parts of a system to use in another but this is only advised if you are fully aware of that systems capabilities.
Can I take my racking system with me if I move premises?
Yes, racking systems in the vast majority of cases are fully demountable and relocatable. At JOG Consultants we have carried out a large number of racking relocation projects and can arrange for transportation and re-installation. As long as the racking has been treated right and was initially installed in the correct manner, it is possible to move racking to new premises.

Are racking safety inspections a legal requirement?

How does a racking inspection work?
We can only provide information based on our own racking inspection services as many firms operate in many different ways. Our basic racking inspections require from one hour to two or three days, depending on the size of your warehouse and complexity of your racking system and must be carried out whilst the warehouse is quiet. We check over all your racking, beams and racking protection and provide detailed reports based on our findings, we advise on immediate safety concerns, areas which need to be watched for further deteriation and can also provide guidance on how to avoid future damage. Our racking inspections service is independent of any of our other services and includes a full materials list and break down of all damaged items. As an extended service we can source and install these repairs or simply hand over a racking report.
Is racking protection expensive?

How does racking consultation vary from a free racking survey and quotation?
Our Racking Consultation service is for companies looking to expand or create an entire new warehouse facility, it involves a lot of time and a lot of experience. We have to discuss all the conceivable items which will pass through the warehouse, the length of time products will be stocked, weights, sizes, pallets. On top of these we have to create an entire racking system layout from scratch which will solve all the clients storage issues for a long time. Often used as a guide to arrange funding our racking consultation service is a payable service with massive benefits, we provide all the information needed to allow a client to go out and tender and can absorb the consultancy cost if a client would like us to quote for the project and accepts our proposal.
Our Free racking survey allows us an opportunity to visit the site of your potential racking system, assess your requirements and measure the site to ensure a suitable system will fit, we can then provide a quotation based on these measurements.
